Preface: The year 2017 marked the centenary of Britain's 'Balfour Declaration' which set the scene for the establishment of the modern state of Israel in 1948. To mark the 100th anniversary of the UK Government's formal support for a Jewish land, a group of believers in Scotland produced 500 copies of a 'Balfour pack' which was distributed to church leaders and interested parties. The pack consisted of both original and pre-existing material in paper and digital form.

This pamphlet was produced as a bi-fold 'Bible study' giving background information with bible references covering issues such as the promises to Abraham and speaking of the nation; the people; the land; Jerusalem; Israel's enemies and the prophecies throughout scripture.

On 17 November 1917, Britain, the month before General Allenby entered Jerusalem, issued the Declaration which formalised the Government's support for Zionist aspirations.

The terms 'Replacement Theology' and 'Supersessionism' describe the view that the new covenant in Christ replaces and cancels God's covenant promises to Abraham.

Particularly since the early 19th century there has been a growing recognition amongst church leaders regarding God's latter day purposes for Israel and the Jewish people.

The People, the Land and the Bible is an anthology of short articles by a wide range of writers. Most are 20th-century and many are Christian. However every article is about the nation of Israel and its peoples. Included are maps of the region and also a list of verses which speak of the re-establshment of the State in 1948.
